We found Raye at a pivotal moment in our life.  Reilly was 4, had just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was struggling to cope.  It was so difficult watching my child put on a brave face, not understanding everything that was happening to him and his body.   

 

Someone recommended that we reach out to Raye.  She played games that helped him understand how insulin worked in his body, how "food buddies" could help us balance sugars, and supported us with all the feelings and emotions.  He was always so excited to open up the door and see Raye. 

 

We still use many of the techniques that Raye gave us in those first few sessions.  I asked Reilly what he would say to other children who might get to work with Raye.  He said, “She helped us understand how to deal with diabetes.”  If you ask me I would say, “Everyone should be lucky enough to have their very own Raye”
